French Toast Babka

Two beloved breakfasts come together. Babka is a sweet, braided bread that originates from Eastern Europe. It is often filled with chocolate or cinnamon.

Ingredients

- 1 loaf of chocolate or cinnamon babka

- 4 large eggs

- 1 cup of whole milk

- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

- A pinch of salt

- 1 cup of fresh strawberries, sliced

- Maple syrup

INSTRUCTIONS

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.

Preheat your skillet over medium heat. Slice the babka and carefully dip each slice into the custard mixture, allowing the bread to soak it up. Be cautious not to let it become too soggy.

Melt a tablespoon of butter in the preheated skillet. Cook the soaked babka slices for 3-4 minutes on each side. Your goal is for them to turn a golden brown and slightly crisp. For an even more decadent twist, sprinkle some cinnamon while they cook for added warmth and depth.

Once cooked, plate the French toast babka slices. Generously top them with strawberries and drizzle with maple syrup. If you like, sprinkle some powdered sugar as well.
