Guide to cheesemongers and whipping cream in India

Updated: Nov 2, 2024

India's cheesemaking scene has grown rapidly, with artisanal cheesemakers across the country producing exceptional varieties. Here’s a list of some of the best cheesemongers in India, where you can find high-quality cheeses crafted with passion and expertise for your charcuterie boards.

  1. Flanders Dairy Products

I am an avid Tiramisu makers and when my Tiramisu got ruined on two occasions with curdled mascarpone I began going the extra mile to get my hands on reliable cheese makers. Flanders has a retail store in Lodhi but you can get it multiple grocery stores and online. Apart from their mascarpone, all their fresh cheeses are great including bocconcini and ricotta. They don't charge outrageously either for offering artisanal cheese.

  1. Spotted Cow Fromagerie

Known for their high-quality cow’s milk cheeses, The Spotted Cow Fromagerie has gained a loyal following. They specialize in Italian-inspired cheeses like Bocconcini, Mozzarella, and Burrata. Their cheeses are fresh, creamy, and on par with international standards.

  1. Amul

Not for the cheese... for the whipping cream. India lacks good quality whipping cream and instead of going for vegetable oil dupes or imported overpriced creams try to get your hands on Amul whipping cream, if you can manage to, these are scarce and I get mine from the grocery stores in Khan Market.
