Grocery Shopping Guide in Delhi

Updated: Nov 2, 2024

When Foodhall shut down last year, it felt like losing an old friend. It was my introduction to luxury shopping, and sampling free dips gave me an oddly satisfying sense of accomplishment. Over time, however, Foodhall’s exclusivity dwindled. As demand for exotic ingredients like avocados surged, neighborhood stores began carrying them, making the long drive to Foodhall unnecessary. Yet, it had a unique heart that’s hard to replace. Still, it’s time to bid a fond farewell and move forward because Delhi has no shortage of top-quality grocery stores. Here are Tiramisini’s top picks:

Modern Bazaar

A classic in luxury grocery shopping, Modern Bazaar offers everything you need without the extravagance of Foodhall. They stock all premium brands including Lindt and Loackers but also local health brands like The Whole Truth and Slurrp Farm. Their delivery service is superb, and a special mention goes to the founder, who also created Sai Jeev Ashram, an animal shelter in Chattarpur. Shopping here feels comfortable and familiar—a place that feels like home.

Khan Market

For specialty items, Khan Market’s Allied Fruits and Florists, Shakti Mart, and Bombay Fruits are essential. These neighboring stores, though small, are packed with imported produce—avocados, Thai papayas, cheeses, and more. Despite Khan Market’s chaos, you can find almost anything here, and their produce quality is unmatched.

INA Market

The ultimate one-stop shop, INA Market is famous for its incredible range, especially in imported seafood. From fresh fish to exotic produce, INA offers it all. And for the ultimate seafood experience, check out the CR Park fish market, where the fish are so enormous you’ll marvel at how they made their way to Delhi.
