A Review of Dubai's Best Cafe: Cafe Bateel

Bateel is the epitome of luxury, and some people may wonder if their dates are worth it. To me, they are a satisfying rare indulgence, but it's understandable if not everyone is willing to pay a bomb. You can taste the difference with higher quality and subtle but deeper flavors of their organically sourced dates.

Whether you choose to have their dates or not, going to Dubai and missing out on their cafe is simply a mistake. Bateel offers an exceptional breakfast and coffee experience that delivers both on taste and atmosphere. While their dates, particularly the stuffed ones, are a bit overpriced, the true highlights are the chocolates.

The date-pistachio milkshake was one of the best things I have ever had. I came back and recreated it as well using homemade pistachio ice cream. It is a creamy, nutty blend that brings out the best in both ingredients.

The hot chocolate is perfectly balanced, with an intense cocoa flavor that isn’t overly sweet or heavy. The pistachio latte brings a subtle, creamy nuttiness that’s refreshing without being overpowering.

The date bread was really special featuring soft dates that add a natural sweetness and warmth to each slice.

The savoury offerings, like the halloumi toast and egg mushroom toast, were fulfilling, with the former featuring a hearty combination of dense, grainy bread, beetroot hummus, avocado, and rosemary. While each component on its own could be enhanced, together, they make a balanced and satisfying dish.

The açaí bowl and waffles offer a nice fruity counterpoint, with fresh, quality ingredients and rich accompaniments.

The al fresco ambiance ties it all together, with a relaxed, tropical vibe that elevates the entire dining experience. The outdoor setting feels breezy and light, which makes the food and drinks even more enjoyable. This is a place to revisit, not only for the thoughtfully prepared breakfast items but also for the unforgettable date-pistachio flavor combination, which has genuinely inspired me.
