I remember being fascinated at Amici in Select City Walk, just staring at their wood-fired oven. I thought that having a wood-fired oven was a seal of approval for a pizza. When Amici shut down, many restaurants in Delhi had adapted the use of that oven. Delhi has no shortage of pizza options, from classic Neapolitan-style pies to creative fusion flavors. Personally, I prefer a pizza that doesn't give me an overdose of carbs, leaving me bloated and sleepy, so I lean towards thin crusts and Neapolitanas. Today, you can find some pizzas in Delhi that beat those in Rome, and here is our review of some popular spots!
COMO Pizzeria: Best Pizza in Delhi
There’s simply no competition. COMO Pizzeria’s sauce is perfection, and they’ve mastered the ideal cheese-to-sauce ratio. The Indian fascination with cheese pulls often detracts from the authentic experience you’d find in Naples, but COMO gets it right. They use fresh mozzarella rather than the stringy packaged kind, making their Neapolitan pizza with beautifully charred crusts. Their dough is fermented for hours, and the uncooked sauce is slathered on just before it goes into the wood-fired oven.
If you’re used to the heavy pizzas from chain restaurants, COMO’s light, airy Neapolitan style might be a shift—but it’s worth trying. And while you’re there, don’t miss the burrata salad, garlic prawns (a garlic lover’s dream), mushroom rigatoni, and risottos. The food is outstanding; however, the ambiance and service do have drawbacks. Servers can be inattentive, and the loud music, reminiscent of a club atmosphere, doesn’t match the European bistro vibe. Though the music can be overwhelming, the incredible food makes it worth the visit.
Special Mentions:
La Piazza, Hyatt Regency
The pizzas here can be a hit or a miss but the Pizza La Piazza can never go wrong. With lots of veggies and a crispy light crust special to this place, this pizza is unique to Hyatt.
Leo's
If you can’t make it to COMO, head to Leo’s. They do a solid Neapolitan-style pizza, and the atmosphere is dog-friendly, making it perfect for a casual outing with your furry friend.
Non-Artisanal Pizzas: The Big Chill and Pizza Express
For those looking for a balance between classic Domino’s and artisanal COMO, The Big Chill and Pizza Express are safe choices. These pizzas work well for kids’ parties and casual gatherings. If you do go to Pizza Express, definitely get their doughballs that come with pesto and homemade butter. And The Big Chill does the best Penne a la Vodka among many other things!
